Day 10 Monday

The morning school gathered together to thank us for coming and serving all these years to their school. It is a blessing to be able to share Christ with these children and at this school that desires their students to be taught the gospel. This is our 8th year working with this school. The school is looking forward to working many years with the ministry teams.

Our last class and day of ministry sharing the gospel. We were able to visit all 3 schools and shared the gospel with over 2,200 children and teens.

Day 3 Monday

We had great day of ministry despite things didn’t go as planned. We had planned to start the ministry at school 1, but learned that the school was ending earlier than normal and we may not be able to get through any classrooms. So we had made plans on visiting school #3 next Monday. After a few phone calls, we were able to start our ministry, but not in the order as we had planned. We just trusted that it would work out, as we know this is Gods ministry.

After morning ministry we moved on to our planned ministry at school #1 and school #2. School #2 is the high school and we taught the gospel message. We did learn that there were several students that accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior for the first time. Several were interested in learning more about Jesus and joining a youth group. Davis has moved his youth group to this school on Saturdays.

School #2 surprised our team by showing appreciation to the ministry by putting on a presentation. All the classrooms were involved in providing a short performance and took pictures with each class. It was a moving experience and we praise God for this relationship that we enjoy with this school.

What started out to seem like a day that we may not be able to visit all the kids at the schools, turned out to be an amazing day for the kingdom.

The team has come together and our evenings our a time to do worship songs, devotions and reflections on the day. It has been great to see the love of Christ in each team member.

Day 2 Sunday

Today we did a church service designed for the children. We did most of our classroom program as the service. It was nice to see how it will work for tomorrow. Lynn and William led relay races and the parachute games. Everyone jumped in and helped where needed. The children loved it. Afterwards they served us a delicious chicken and rice soup with tortillas and fruit. Then we headed back to the hotel. It took about an hour and when we arrived we found the hotel locked. (We are the only ones staying at the hotel). The owner wasn’t going to be back for awhile so we went out for ice cream. That was a nice treat after a warm morning. Some of us also bought some pastry type items from a nearby store. Since we had not been able to change clothes from Sunday service we were not able to play basketball, etc. at the high school. So we had some unexpected downtime which was really nice, before having dinner of chicken, rice and and veggies. We than had a devotional time before bed.

Day 1. Travel Day

Our flights went well with no issues. We arrived around noon but customs took longer than usual so we left the airport late and stopped at McDonald’s for a late lunch around 3pm. Then we headed for the high school where Davis (our Guatemala ministry partner) has a youth program on Saturday afternoons. Terry, our fearless leader did a short message to the students on the conversion of Saul to Paul. Then we spent time playing basketball and hanging out with the students. Then we served them dinner and they left by 6:30. Now it was our turn to eat. The food was delicious and prepared by Davis’s lovely wife Lety. It was pache which are mashed potatoes mixed with a sauce and some chicken. Then boiled in banana leaves.  Afterwards we left for our hotel and had a quick devotional time then off to bed.
